  1. What are the event start times? I have a young (toddler) daughter that enjoys “running” alongside her Daddy, but I’d also like to run the 5K. Thank you!

    • Hi Michael, The start time for the Kid’s 1 Mile Fun Run will be 6:30 pm. The 5K will begin at 7:00 pm. Gymco has just signed back on this year to provide a Kid’s Zone, so if you have a spouse or friend that can stay with your daughter, she will be entertained while you run the main event!

  2. Is the 5k run/walk stroller friendly? I have a two year old who would love to walk alongside me for a bit, but would otherwise be in a stroller (probably a little too young for the 1-mile event).

    • Hi Stephanie,

Because the 5K is a trail run, with hills and bumpy terrain, it would not be stroller friendly. If you have someone to watch him/her during the 5K at the Kid’s Zone while you run/walk, I’d be more than happy to give you a discount code for a free Kids Run entry, and that way they can help you “warm up” before your run for however long he/her can last around the 1 mile loop. If you are interested, please email me directly at corey@blandfordnaturecenter.org for a discount code.

    • Hi Jennifer,

Yes, the Youth and Adult 5K runs at the same time. We do split up “runners” (30 minutes and under for time) and “joggers” with a slight delay to avoid overcrowding. The best thing to do is to get in the group with the person who is slower (out of you and your daughter) and go from there so that you can stay together if you’d like. Coming off a GOTR season will really benefit your daughter – we had quite a few girls that participate that do GOTR last year!

  3. I see in some comment/ replies that there will be a Kidzone, but want to clarify, is an adult required to be with any child in the Kidzone? Or only children under a certain age? If my 11 year old wants to do the kids 1 mile run, but my husband and I both want to run the 5k, can an 11 year old be left alone at the Kidzone? What exactly are the rules/ age restrictions?

    • Hi Clare,
The Kid Zone is an unsupervised area that has activities for children. It is up to you whether or not you think that your 11 year old is mature enough to be left alone while you are running. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member to keep him/her company – tell them they will get a free hot dog too!
